Your body and your baby’s body are designed to facilitate labor and birth (assuming all is well with physical, psychological, and physiological processes). Your uterus contracts, your cervix opens, your pelvis expands, your baby’s head molds, and your body releases the necessary hormones to facilitate the entire process of labor and birth. The majority of doubts and limitations related to the birthing process derive from our minds and our ego. Maintaining a strong mental state wrapped in confidence and full of the “universal life force” is essential to laboring and birthing with confidence and ease. Practicing Hypnobirthing during pregnancy and utilizing Hypnobirthing during labor and delivery helps in maintaining a mental direction that encourages you to focus on trusting your body and your baby and releasing any mental or ego-bound limitations.
On Friday, August 18, 2017, I started having what seemed like really heavy period cramps. I brushed it off, because this was the usual every month. But then it started to radiate to my back then down my legs. I immediately thought, “OMG I MIGHT BE PREGNANT!” I was so excited, but scared. I had no idea what normal was. I called my boss and went to Walgreens, took a pregnancy test in the restroom of Walgreens, and sure enough, positive.
I called Juan on FaceTime, and I showed him the test (since I was still in the restroom) and I said, “WE’RE PREGNANT!” We both cried, and we were so happy.
I’m so thankful for Megan and Rooted birth. Megan was so warm and informative from the time I reached out to to her. When I chose her agency I chose Saron as my doula and she is God sent! As a first time mom, I wanted to make sure that I was as prepared as possible to bring my baby into this world. Not to mention we were in the middle of a global pandemic and we’re not from San Antonio, so I had no family around. As with most things, I do extensive research and I am so glad that my search led me to Rooted Birth and Saron. My husband and I spoke with and interviewed several Doulas, but there was something about her spirit. So light and calming, exactly what I prayed for. She was so informative from the moment we decided to work together. Additionally, representation matters and I just loved that she is and advocates for women of color.
When I went into labor Saron was there every step of the way. Accepting my calls in the middle of the night and calmly reminding me to trust my body. I had a 26 hour, natural, unmedicated labor. She never left my side, not even to go and eat! She spent the entire day supporting and coaching me and my husband, all while missing her baby girls birthday. (So yes, our daughters are birthday twins). My ideal birthday plan was fulfilled. I could not have labored the way that I did nor could I have had the same experience without her, AT ALL.
Saron made my husband the biggest believer in Doulas. She was such a wealth of knowledge and support for him as well. He is now telling all future dads how vital having a great Doula is. Saron, we thank you so much and hope that you know how much we appreciate you.
Tori did my placenta encapsulation and had it ready for me before I left the hospital. She also provided an umbilical cord keepsake! If you’re a parent reading this and have any questions about who you should choose, please don’t hesitate. Saron, I hope you know you are the Joneses Doula for life for any subsequent babies to come.

Rachell was our doula and she was absolutely fantastic! We were so blessed to have her support and the support of all the other doulas at Rooted birth! We love our experience!
-Samantha F.
My experience with Rooted Birth was nothing short of amazing. My doula was Rachell. She was with me from about 4 months before I gave birth. She was available at any time to answer all my questions and made me feel great about going into my natural birth plan and even the bumps along the way when my son was 2 weeks late. The night I was induced, Rachell’s son got sick and couldn’t come to the hospital but the substitute doula, Melanie, stepped into place without hesitation. It felt so comfortable, as if Melanie was supposed to be there all along. She helped make my labor smooth, positive, and just a beautiful experience. I could not and will not do labor and delivery without Rooted Birth by my side!

Yvette is an amazing doula! She helped me during both pregnancies and deliveries. If I was going to get pregnant, I would want Yvette to be a part of my journey again. I always felt I had support from her and was able to ask her anything. My first son was all natural and I was able to deliver him vaginally. She was there to support me as well as my husband and help us ensure our birthing requests were met. My second son was labored naturally, but found breach at 9cm and I had a caesarian section. She supported me the whole process with my second as well. After the boys were born, she checked in on us and was very helpful with postpartum and new mom questions. I highly recommend Yvette as your Doula!

We are so glad We had Aubrey as our doula.
She answered our many questions pre and post birth as my wife and I embarked on having our first born. It really helped put me as a husband at ease, especially as I purposefully didn’t go overboard reading all the books and research and driving myself crazy with anxiety and “what ifs”. Aubrey shared exactly what I needed to know - no more no less. Digestible and applicable. I can’t thank you enough.
She took a huge load off of our shoulders in the postpartum sessions by doing meal prep, laundry, and generally supporting mom with a fussy baby when she needed sleep or a shower. Her support allowed me to get back into the office to do client calls and sessions (I’m a soloproneur so have flexibility of my schedule but also it rests on me).
Aubrey has a passion about birth and childcare and was super knowledgeable in answering our questions. I was also very thankful to have her as a resource as we were thrown a curveball in delivery.
Thank you, Aubrey!!
PS. Aubrey made the best bacon I’ve tasted - and I consider myself a bit of a bacon connoisseur - delicious overnight oats, comforting baked ziti and a killer shredded chicken chili. I was not expecting these lovely bonuses in the postpartum sessions!

Yvette was my postpartum doula, and she was fantastic! I had postpartum depression, my husband was working out of town, we have no family here, and I had no idea what to do or where to look for help. My ob recommended a doula, which I had honestly never thought to have. I found Yvette, and it’s no exaggeration to say that she was a lifesaver. I had had no idea that there were even postpartum doulas, but within a few hours of Yvette’s first visit, I could not imagine postpartum time without her. She had a way with my daughter immediately, and I so looked forward to her every visit. My daughter was only two months old, but I think she looked forward to them, too 😁 5/5 stars, I highly recommend Yvette!

This was our first pregnancy and we needed all the care, advice, and support we can get…Yoly our doula absolutely delivered. My husband and I learned the stages of labor & birth as well as what to expect for postpartum. Our questions & concerns were answered from day one, but, what truly mattered was the love and support during the LONG labor. Yoly was like a big sister, who braided my hair, taught me how to manage the pain, showed my husband how to actively be involved, and allowed him to rest even when she herself was tired. Although this might not mean much to many…I loved that I could communicate to her in my native language, Spanish, I could genuinely say what came to mind without translation. The icing on the cake was the fun activities “homework” she assigned during our pregnancy to help us as a couple visualize the type of birth we wanted along with frequent checking-ins to make sure we both were okay. Yoly was not only there for me but for my partner as well and that made the biggest difference in the world. Thank you Yoly for “Rooting” for us hahah and thank you Megan for the services and team you’ve built.

The ladies at Rooted Birth are phenomenal! I contacted them early in my pregnancy for information and they were always prompt to respond and answer any and all questions.
I chose Saron as my doula and she was everything I could have hoped for and more! She was always ready to listen when I needed to talk through things ahead of the big day. And when the big day finally came, she was there with by me and my husband’s side with the calm and guidance we needed. She maintained that calming presence throughout a long night and even stayed with us for a brief hospital transfer (needed for mom not baby) to make sure everything was okay.
My birth experience would not have been the same without this support! So glad I decided to go with them!

Learning of women who give birth naturally inspired me greatly to do the same. With that in mind, I also knew anything could happen at any time during my pregnancy and with a doula to guide me through this process I knew it would lessen my worry, especially during a hospital birth. I was on the fence about having a doula during my first ever pregnancy because I felt that I had the strength necessary and have an invaluable amount of support from my husband and family. I was 37 weeks when we decided to finally choose a doula as I learned it was more than just trusting my strength. When I reached out to RB, Megan responded to me promptly and even though I was so late in deciding my wishes, Megan made sure I knew it was okay. With RB I was able to tailor the services to exactly what I wanted. Jennifer was amazing in the entire process. She came to my home almost immediately and listened to my wishes and questions and made me feel that my wants were not unrealistic. When I went into labor, Jennifer was there for us instantly with an answer for all my questions. When it was time to head to the hospital, she advocated for me in all the ways I needed. She guided me through my pain management and honored my wishes when there was something I didn’t want to do. My dream of having a natural birth came true with her help. For any mom out there on the fence about a doula or receiving services from RB please do it. My only regret is that I didn’t meet Jennifer or reach out to RB sooner in my pregnancy.

I've used Rooted Birth for both of my pregnancies. Both times, I felt supported and cared for. They helped ensure my husband could take care of my needs (because they don't always know how to help in this situation). In my last birth, the OB was pushing to break my water and my Doula Rachel advocated for me because she knew that was not what I wanted at that time. I know I would've gone into a situation I was not prepared for had I given in and I'm grateful I was lucky enough to have the birth I wanted. She empowered me and helped me through the long day.

Megan with Rooted Birth is an excellent and professional doula! I highly recommend her and her team. You have the option to interview and choose who you feel is the best fit for you as you build your birth team. My husband and I were incredibly grateful to have Megan with us. Not only did she provide support during labor and birth, but she also set up a couple appointments beforehand, and also visited us after our son was born. Her support was incredible, providing a chance for my husband as well to get some rest while I was in labor. She met with us at our home prior to transitioning over to the birth center. Her care is authentic and genuine. If you are hesitant about hiring a doula, I highly recommend Rooted Birth! I know when time comes for us to have a second baby, we will be hiring Megan again!

Yvette has been my doula from pregnancy through postpartum. As a new mom, she has been so helpful navigating me in this journey and I had the best birth experience thanks to her. Like most births, things didn’t go quite as planned, but Yvette helped keep me calm & truly comforted me through the whole process. There are no words that can amount to how grateful my family is for her impact on us through such a life changing time. Experienced, knowledgeable, & compassionate!!! Momma, Trust me when I say you deserve a doula & Yvette is the best.
-Desiree G.
Yvette was a stand-out among the several doulas I first interviewed in 2018 before the birth of my first child. Her calm, steady, and strong demeanor helped me and my husband trust her immediately. My goal of laboring at home for as long as possible, along with an unmedicated birth in a hospital not just with my first baby, but also my second, was made possible in part by Yvette's knowledge and support (emotional and physical!). When we arrived at the hospital, Yvette took note of the positions I'd been most comfortable laboring in at home and immediately rearranged the hospital bed to accommodate those preferences. She provided amazing counter-pressure during contractions and offered help and support to my husband when neither of us were sure what to do or what might help. It may seem small, but she would also offer snacks and even stayed with me during my long first labor so my husband could get a break and grab something from the cafeteria. She took photos, she talked to nurses, she encouraged us. She also helped me with both of my babies' first nursing sessions and stayed with us from labor & delivery room to post-partum recovery room. She ensured we were comfortable and fed before leaving the hospital. I am truly grateful for Yvette. We have already booked her for baby #3 arriving later this year. I can't imagine giving birth without her by our side again!

My experience with Aubrey as my doula has been absolutely invaluable and I am so incredibly grateful to her for everything she has helped me with throughout pregnancy and during my long labor. Even my fiancé who was skeptical about the idea of a doula is so thankful for her and all of her help prior to and during our birth experience! She was there for us through every step of the way since we met her at our first prenatal appointment, easing my anxieties about motherhood, the experience of labor, post-partum, you name it! My labor was 23 hours and she was with me the entire time, advocating for me in the hospital and encouraging me to advocate for myself and what I wanted for my birth experience as a mom. When my experience didn’t go exactly as I planned, Aubrey reminded me of how strong I was and that there was nothing to regret about the way my labor was panning out. She even helped my fiancé and I truly bond and brought us closer during the birthing of our first baby boy. I will always look back on my whole experience with positive feelings because of Aubrey’s help and I truly cannot thank her enough for everything! I could go on for days but the bottom line is I HIGHLY recommend her if you are looking for a kind, strong, knowledgeable, and empathetic doula!

Aubrey was such a wonderful aid to me and my husband leading up to, and immediately following the birth of my daughter. She was very accommodating to my family's particular needs. She's extremely efficient with her time when visiting; I feel like I hardly had to ask for help because she anticipated my needs so well and was super proactive and organized about care. She took her time with us, offered compassion and companionship, as well as an unbiased and non-judgemental approach to educating me and my husband on all the new parental things. During my most vulnerable time, I completely trusted Aubrey to support me and I will do so again with my second!
-Melissa K.
Aubrey is a wonderful doula. As first-time parents, my husband and I had so many questions and doubts both before and after the birth of our son. Aubrey was extremely helpful and patient and answered all of them! She guided us through the process with in-person and phone meetings. She helped us develop a birth plan and discuss our various options. She also made a gorgeous summary of our birth plan with images and icons to ease communication with nurses and doctors! Her encouraging text messages have been a true gift and helped me during the last week of pregnancy past my due date and the post-partum period (both challenging!).
Having Aubrey with us during L&D was also great. She helped us make informed decisions for me and my baby throughout. She supported me through my contractions and discreetly took a few pictures before and after the birth of our baby, for which we'll forever be thankful. She's been very thoughtful through the entire process: she even got us some food at 1 am after our son was born – the most delicious chicken nuggets I've had!
Aubrey is very professional but also willing to share insights from her own experience as a mother, which were really valuable. My husband and I are very grateful we've had Aubrey accompany us on this journey!

Saron was so incredible and we literally couldn’t have gone epidural-free without her. She brought peppermint oil that she put on a cold rag and it was a total savior. She completely focused on and anticipated my every need and Was by my side for every single contraction. She advocated for me and my requests and spoke on my behalf when I was laboring and couldn’t talk. She helped keep us motivated toward the goal of no epidural and pushed me to stay strong, but was also super nonjudgmental and informative when I was considering epidural halfway through. I labored for 14 hours and she held my hips and hair and played music and seriously everything I possibly needed for the ENTIRE time and made sure I didn’t feel like I was bothering her at all. My fiancé really didn’t want a doula in the beginning because he thought it would take away from him helping and from our special experience but he kept saying over and over how we couldn’t have done it without her and how amazing she was. Honestly, if you’re on the fence about a doula, consider this your sign to get one!!! The nurses and doctors were so hands-off since I wanted to be pretty drug-free (even though I was induced) that I would’ve felt really intimidated and alone without her help!!!

Feedback on classes with Rachel West, Certified Childbirth Educator:
Rachel was best at laying out many options and describing pros and cons without judgment. Extremely positive and encouraging. Very adept and using zoom and keeping us engaged remotely!
The real world application of techniques was really well articulated.
She gave us a sense of calm about how natural child birth is which calmed my nerves.
She really wants us to advocate for ourselves.
She was very sweet and gave lots of honest and useful information and had lots of props to show.
I didn’t know if I wanted to breastfeed but Rachel was extremely knowledgeable and presented the information very thoroughly in a way that made me feel confident in choosing to breastfeed as a first time mom!
Feedback on classes with Rachel West, Certified Childbirth Educator:
Rachel has a great personality and knowledge base!
The part I liked best was Rachel’s emphasis on how natural birth is and how our bodies are meant for this! Appreciated the evidence-based approach and positivity throughout.
The part I liked best was the pain management techniques during labor because it gave me the ability utilize different techniques regardless of what type of pain management I choose
I enjoyed the content especially the various labor positions as I didn’t even know this was an option! Also really enjoyed being able to ask questions openly.
Rachel was amazing and gave all the needed information raw! She did not hide anything scary from us so that we can be prepared for labor and postpartum. I learned a lot more than I expected and I am very grateful.
The teacher was fantastic! Very down to earth, open, helpful and passionate.
